Hello everyone, and welcome to Encuentro Con Los Maestros, the artistic residency whose special edition we will all be sharing very soon in Jávea, thanks to Cultura Contra Balas.
I’m creating this group to centralize all artistic communication.
Among us is Lorenzo Moya, pianist, composer, and musician specialized in jazz and flamenco, who will be directing the musicians throughout this adventure.
The Spanish participants will only be in Jávea for a few days, so we’ll have intense sessions of rehearsals and creative laboratory work, culminating in a joint performance of musicians and dancers on January 4th in the afternoon.
We are also joined by Adrián and Sofía, Spanish dancers who, in addition to participating in the creative lab, will present their piece “Cara A y Cara B”, a choreographic work by Adrián that won the most prestigious Spanish dance competition held in Madrid last July.
Lorenzo will begin directing the musical work here in the group, so that the musicians can start preparing what they will share with the dancers in Jávea.
We also welcome Ariadna Suárez, a Cuban dancer who has bravely decided to begin a new artistic chapter in Spain.
And Sandra, a Spanish dancer, will be with us to help with anything we may need.
I have suggested to Lorenzo —if he agrees— the possibility of preparing a version of “Shchedryk / Carol of the Bells” and “El Cant dels Ocells”, a very Mediterranean piece that also celebrates the birth of Jesus.
Lorenzo would also like to invite you to play some of his own compositions, which will be danced in the final showing. He will share more about this here in the group.
