Alabel is a group from Madrid that was born in the middle of 2018. Its members met thanks to influences and common circles of flamenco and jazz, as well as an interest marked by folklore and popular music. Through the universality of the traditional song folk tunes work Spanish, Latin American, Sephardic or European melodies … with a current language ranging from jazz harmonies to flamenco palos. The arrangements, almost all by the pianist Lorenzo Moya, make the present and the past coexist in a texture supported by the bass by Antonio G. Calero and the drums of Bandolero in a open instrumental configuration to other members. In them lie the melodies and stories in the voice of María de la Flor. Together they sing and play with the tenderness of memory, vindicating the value of oral tradition and the strength of old melodies through a current and proper code.
